Zen River maintains a frugal and cooperative way of life. All work is done on a voluntary basis, which helps us keep contributions as low as possible.

We ask first-time participants to pay the full contribution for their first Gyōji week. After that, if financial circumstances make it difficult to return or stay, please feel free to talk with us. Reduced contributions are possible, depending on your situation.

For longer stays, regular participants may also apply for a scholarship. And when it comes to residential training, lack of financial means should never in itself prevent someone from staying at Zen River.
